Our Centre offers:
Energy work looks at the body as a whole instead of just looking at the symptoms of illness. Eastern philosophy teaches that we are not just our bodies – we are energy. Quantum physics teaches us that we are a very complex system of energetic patterns. We are learning that we cannot isolate one thing from a complex pattern without creating an impact on the whole system. A symptom does not necessarily signify one specific problem, but rather that something is out of balance within the whole body.
Energy work works with people who find that they are falling between the cracks of the medical system, or feel that they are stuck on a merry-go-round of medical professionals, therapies and medications while improved health still eludes them.
Energy work practitioners acknowledge that the client’s body is very wise and know that if you follow that body wisdom, it will reveal exactly what is causing the symptoms. The practitioner then works with that body wisdom to remove the cause of the symptoms so that the body is free to heal itself.
Energy work is provided by practitioners who have been trained and certified in energy techniques called modalities. The modalities offered by energy work practitioners at the Paradigm Centre are: Therapeutic Touch, Total Body Modification (TBM), Biocomputer Operating System (BOS), Energy Psychology, Medical Intuition, Channeling, Integrated Chakra and Meridian Balancing.
The Holistic Energy Practitioners at the Paradigm Centre assist each client on their own personal healing journey by working with the body’s innate wisdom to help bring the physical body back into harmony with the energy body or aura. The modalities offered by our practitioners can help in the release of physical and emotional symptoms which can result in healing.
The energy work offered by the Holistic Energy Practitioners is not conventional nor is it a substitute for a traditional medical or allopathic medical care. Energy work is not suitable for anyone undergoing extreme psychiatric distress or anyone who has been or is receiving medical assistance for extreme psychiatric distress.
Registered Massage Therapy
There are tremendous benefits to be achieved through regular massage therapy treatments from a Registered Massage Therapist. Whether your need is to have a moment of relaxation, reduce muscle tension or attain relief from chronic pain, a therapeutic massage can enhance your overall sense of emotional and physical well-being.
Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.
Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved; and physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.
Modern massage techniques can be traced back to the 1700′s and the development of Swedish massage, the first systematic method of therapeutic massage based on physiology. Today’s Massage Therapists use their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to combine traditional Swedish and modern Massage Therapy techniques with exercise and other therapies to treat their clients.
Advanced Registered Massage Therapy
This type of therapy incorporates techniques learned throughout four years of the Manual Osteopathy program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. It includes craniosacral techniques, soft tissue release, fluidic techniques, and joint mobilizations (all techniques are within the scope of Massage Therapy).
Each session includes a comprehensive intake and assessment as well as treatment, with the goal of uncovering the root cause of any pain or dysfunction you may be experiencing.
Helpful for conditions such as headaches, TMJ dysfunction, dizziness/vertigo, back pain (upper/mid/lower), pelvic dysfunction/hip problems, sinus problems, whiplash injuries, stress/anxiety, digestive issues, respiratory issues, acute or chronic pain/injuries.
EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Supria Karmakar, is a Clinical Social Worker who uses EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing as one of the ways to assist individuals to process traumatic or distressing life events. It is an effective therapy for the treatment of various traumas, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), assault, car accidents, bullying experiences, and other distressing or emotional experiences including anxiety, depression, childhood adversity, grief and loss.
Sometimes life’s events can create an imbalance, where the memories and emotions become ‘stuck’ and/or ‘blocked’, the brain wants to naturally heal these places where the memories are blocked. EMDR uses detailed and evidence based protocols and procedures to help activate the brain’s natural healing processes to re-process these traumatic memories helping you to feel free of these painful incidents, bringing back calm and clarity, and assisting you to enjoy your life again.

Counselling – Individual, Couples, Families and Groups
Individual Counselling - provides a supportive space for individuals to be heard, find hope, gain greater awareness, and learn strategies to manage distress and improve their relationships.
Family Counselling – working with children and supporting families to understand and connect with one another. It helps families come closer together, repair ruptures in their relationships, and develop or rebuild emotionally secure relationships.
Couples Counselling - using the Gottman Method, it aims to help couples become closer, learn to address conflict productively, and build a life of shared meaning together.
Groups – working with groups helps to capitalize on the power of shared experience while integrating the principles of mindfulness, the practice of yoga, and the techniques of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) to help individuals manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Talk Therapy – Individual, Couples, and Families
Individual therapy is a one-on-one relationship that can be used as a safe place to explore and work towards change. Therapy can focus on almost any topic. People in individual therapy may find they learn new ways of understanding themselves, understand more about how the past affects their present, and have a clearer sense of how to move forward. Parenting support is also sometimes a part of individual therapy.
Couples Therapy is often geared more towards a systems approach. This means that there is usually time spent on understanding patterns in the couple's relationship, how these patterns affect each person, and how to alter those patterns when needed. There is often a focus on developing skills around managing conflict, building connection and maintaining intimacy. Parenting support is also sometimes a part of couples therapy.
Family Therapy – Family therapy usually involves one or more parents and one or more children, and also uses a systemic type approach. This means there is usually time spent on understanding patterns and roles of each individual in the family unit. The focus is on improving how the unit functions, and addressing the needs of individuals collectively. Parenting support is also sometimes a part of family therapy.
